In March 2001 CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) in the Heart of Texas began serving Children in Brown County, the program expanded into Mills County in August 2002 and then into Comanche County in September of 2003.
District Judge Steve Ellis was the one who sought Texas CASA guidance on starting a CASA program here in Brownwood. So we refer to him as the father of CASA in the Heart of Texas.
CASA is having a celebration dinner on April 7, 2011 at the Brownwood Country Club, it will start at 6:30pm and the tickets are $35. CASA calls it their “Justice Served” dinner because local Judges, Attorneys and Law Enforcement will be serving drinks, refills, etc.
