Junior Ira (J I) Thacker, age 88, of Brownwood passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Friday March 18, 2011. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Park on Monday March 21, 2011 at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00pm on Sunday at Blaylock Funeral Home.
Junior married Lois Wright on February 15, 1943 in Oklahoma. They spent 68 wonderful years together. He served in the US Air Force. He was a painter and carpenter for Nationwide Builder Supply for 27 years and lived in Brownwood most of his life. He was life member a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Junior is survived by his wife Lois Thacker, his daughters Sherry Cox and Roger of Early, Jeanne Thacker and Jack Billings of San Antonio, Gail Graves and Lee of Brownwood and Susan Lewis and Sam of Lubbock, daughter-in-law Wanda Thacker Martin and Scott of Brownwood; 11 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren and a very special friend Joel Andrade.
He was preceded in death by his son Dennis Thacker, his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Relay for Life or Lighthouse Hospice.
Services have been entrusted to the care of Blaylock Funeral Home.
