comptrollerlogoTexas Comptroller Susan Combs released sales tax allocation numbers for June which showed Brown County cities continuing a positive trend overall in year-to-date numbers.  Brownwood showed a 10.32% increase for the month in June allocations as compared to June 2011.  Bangs and Blanket also showed increases for the month in sales tax.

Early showed a slight decline on the month of 1.35% but still had sales tax growth year-to-date of 1.30%.

Statewide, Combs will send June local sales tax allocations totaling $514.1 million to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts, up 9.7% compared to June 2011.

“This marks 26 consecutive months of sales tax growth,” Combs said. “As the recovery continues, the year-to-year rate of growth is stabilizing.  Collections remain strong in the oil and natural gas-related sectors as well as other segments of the Texas economy such as the restaurant industry.”

The sales tax figures represent monthly sales made in April.
