The Texas Comptroller’s office released June sales tax allocation numbers for cities across the state showing a decrease in Brownwood sale tax and an increase for Early on the month.
Brownwood sales tax was down 4.94% for the month compared to June of last year, but is at about the same level of sale tax collection year-to-date compared 2012. Early’s sale tax allocation was up by more than 9 percent on the month and is almost up 1% year-to-date.
Statewide, State Comptroller Susan Combs will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts their June local sales tax allocations totaling $556.8 million, up 8.3 percent compared to June 2012.“Growth in state sales tax revenue was led by collections from the information services and construction sectors,” Combs said. “Restaurants also showed notable growth, while oil and natural gas-related activity remains a major source of strength.”
See sales tax numbers for Brown County cities below. The sales tax figures represent April sales.
