Funeral Services for Juanita (Crockett) Bailey, 89, of Brownwood and formerly of Early will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home with Alvis Fisher officiating. Interment will follow at Rock Church Cemetery near Blanket. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home. She passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 in Brownwood.
Following retirement, Nita renewed her crocheting skills which she had learned at an early age. She crocheted hundreds of ‘cross bookmarks’ which she lovingly gave to her family and countless friends.
Nita loved spending time with family and watching her grandchildren participating in sports. Every chance she had, she attended their sporting events to cheer them on.
Nita was a lifetime resident of Brown County and attended Brady Avenue Church of Christ since its founding. Even while in the nursing home the last two and a half years, she faithfully attended church every Sunday morning.
Survivors include her two daughters, Mary Lynn Blackwell and husband Lance of Brownwood, Patti Parker and husband Mark of Early; her grandchildren, Hilton Blackwell and wife Sarah of San Angelo, Hillary Freeman and husband Grant of Comanche, Nathan Easley and of Groesbeck, Jaimie Easley and Ethan Easley of Early; great-grandchildren, Jordan Freeman, Jaxson Freeman and Shelby Blackwell, and numerous nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.
Nita is preceded in death by the father of her children, Joe A. Bailey; parents, Miller and Mary Crockett; one brother and sister-in-law, Aubrey and Audie Crockett; sister-in-law and husband, Emma Jean and George Steel; and brother-in-law Glenn Bailey.
