Joyce Jeanette Hill, age 82 , of Brownwood went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2013. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, 800 Center Ave., Brownwood. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early. At the family’s request no visitation will be held, but friends are invited to sign the register book at Davis-Morris from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm Thursday and Friday.
Joyce was born on March 6, 1931, in Rotan, Texas, to Barnette and Elizabeth Lambert Bigham and graduated from Rotan High School in 1948. She continued her education at Abilene Christian College, and after her graduation in 1952, she returned to Rotan to begin her teaching career. While teaching, she met her husband, Marshall Trammel Hill, Jr, and together they raised two children. Joyce retired from teaching in 1991, and together with Marshall they moved to Brownwood. She was a past president of Rotan Classroom Teachers Association, past president of Beta Sigma Phi of Rotan and Delta Kappa Gamma of Fisher and Nolan Counties. She was a member of Austin Avenue Church of Christ and a former member Rotan Church of Christ.
Joyce is survived by her son, Marshall T. Hill, III and wife Dawn of Brownwood; grandchildren, John Hill, William Hill, Zachary Forbes and Luke Forbes; great granddaughter, Trista Thiel-Forbes; sister, Margie Bigham Hale and brother, Jim Bigham. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Marshall; daughter, Jill Hill Fisher and brother, Robert C. Bigham. Condolences may be left for the family at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com.
