RainwaterJoseph “Buddy” Rainwater, age 73 of Brownwood passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at his home in Brownwood.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 3, 2012 in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 2, 2012, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, with a rosary service beginning at 7:00pm.

Joseph Carl “Buddy” Rainwater was born September 29, 1938, to Jim Brooks Rainwater and Carlena May (Arisman) Rainwater, in Hico, Texas.  Buddy joined the Navy in 1955 and served his country until 1958.  While in the Navy, he was part of a crew that was still cleaning up and rebuilding Pearl Harbor.  He married Glenda Joyce Self on August 22, 1959, in Ft. Worth.  Buddy worked for Bell Helicopter as a Quality Assurance Inspector for 30 years.  During Operation Desert Storm, Bell Helicopter flew Buddy to North Carolina, where he installed equipment on the military helicopters to help make them undetectable to enemy radar.  He and Glenda came to the Brownwood area in April of 1997.  Glenda passed away on December 28, 2000.    Buddy married Quata Adkison on April 27, 2002 in Brownwood.  Buddy was a proud member of both the American Legion and the VFW.  He owned his own mechanic shop for some time, and it’s said the he could fix anything.  Buddy was an avid fisherman and loved the Texas Rangers, old westerns, John Wayne and “Tom Landry’s Cowboys.”  He was a man of few words and a soft spoken country boy.  Buddy was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Mr. Rainwater was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenda Rainwater; his parents, Jim and Carlena Rainwater; his brother Tommy Rainwater, and his step-great-grandchild, Mhykhael Rhalynn Fergonson.

Survivors include his wife Quata Rainwater; two daughters, Carol Jean Shulz and husband Mike of Parker, CO and Karen Faye Sepulvado and husband John of Cleburne, TX; his son, Carol Richard Rainwater and wife Barbara of Ft. Worth, TX; 5 grandchildren, Amber and Matt Byler of Cleburne, Texas, Amanda and Jacob Rainwater of Ft. Worth, TX, and Mark Schulz of Parker, CO; 4 great-grandchildren, Peyton, Emma and Autum Carey and Jayton Byler; 3 brothers, Robert Douglas Rainwater, James Brooks Rainwater, and Johnny Wayne Rainwater, all of Ft. Worth, TX; a sister, Dianna Sue Munoz of Lockhart, TX; 2 stepdaughters, Anita Gilmore and husband Kevin and Cinnie Naul and Husband Jimmy; 5 step-grandchildren, Shilah Ferguson, Britt Naul, Miranda Gooch and husband Ryan, Sierra Ferguson, Ari Camitt; and a step-great-grandson, Cayde Taylor.
