Jonnie Frances Richardson was embraced by the loving arms of the Lord on September 4, 2012 at the age of 100 years.
Jonnie was born in Jonesboro, Texas to Rev. Wesley Marvin and Eva (Garrett) Bowden on September 6, 1911. She spent her entire life in Texas and had fond memories of life in her father’s Methodist churches and tent revivals with her parents, two brothers, and two sisters. In 1931 she married the love of her life, Bob Richardson. She and Bob were blessed with the birth of their only child, Bobby in 1938.
In 1969, Bob retired and he and Jonnie moved from Garland to Bangs. They very much enjoyed their retirement years and visits from relatives, friends, and their granddaughters, Pamela and Susan.Jonnie was hit with a devastating blow in 1979 when Bob passed away. Following Bob’s death, Jonnie devoted many hours crocheting afghans and kitchen towels for her family and friends. Over the past thirty-three years she crocheted hundreds of afghans and towels-all gifts to others. Jonnie took great pleasure “doing” for others and her loving, giving spirit will be truly missed by many. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her. She loved talking to people, was a good listener, and always had a genuine interest in their lives. Jonnie had a strong religious faith and always saw the good in people.
Jonnie is survived by her son Bobby Richardson and wife Marion of Tulsa, her granddaughters, Pamela Reeves and husband Russell of Keller and Susan Richardson of Denver, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Clay Reeves and Miguel, Isabella, and Maya Baylon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Pauline Bartlett and Dorothy Seay, and two brothers, Wesley and Dick Bowden.
For those desiring to make memorials, the family requests they be made to the Bangs First United Methodist Church, 304 S First St, Bangs, 76823.
