Jonathan Fitzgerald

Jonathan David Fitzgerald left this Earth on Monday, July 21 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Jonathan was born on October 11th, 1989 in Pensacola, Florida and was 24 years of age.  Funeral services for Jonathan Fitzgerald, age 24, of Brownwood, will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 26, 2014 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Polaski officiating. Cremation will follow the service.  Visitation and viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Jonathan spent most of his life in Brownwood, Texas and graduated from Brownwood High School where he made a countless number of friends and was a dedicated member of the Brownwood Lions Football Brotherhood. Jonathan attended college at Texas State Technical College for a short time before moving on to his passion, cooking with his brother at The Hideout Golf Club and Resort at Lake Brownwood. There he spent his last days doing what he loved with the people he loved most.

Jonathan’s legacy is left behind in the memories shared by his many friends and family. It is a legacy of unconditional love that will be infinitely cherished. Jonathan enjoyed spending time with his friends, fishing, recreational shooting, working on cars, long drives on dirt roads and defending the Constitution of the United States of America. Jonathan had many of the same hobbies that most 24 year olds do, but the sincere joy and dedication to spending time with family is just one of the things that made him so special. Although there might have been more exciting things to do for a man his age, he was always the first to arrive and the last to leave no matter how small or spontaneous the family gathering. If you had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan, he was most likely the kindest person that you’d ever met.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his grandparents Johnny DeAnda and Petra Quiroz, his aunt Mary Elizabeth “Chavela” DeAnda all of Brownwood and his grandparents Jean and Charles Fitzgerald of Ft. Walton Beach Florida.

Jonathan is survived by his mother and step-father Mary Frances and Ray Leinbaugh of Brownwood, his father Pete Fitzgerald of Ft. Walton Beach Florida, his sister and brother-in-law Christina Lynn and Daniel Ray Cox, and brother Stephen Ray Leinbaugh of Brownwood. Aunts and Uncles include Gloria and Jimmy Field, Paul and Betty DeAnda of Brownwood, Alice Cole of Birmingham Alabama, and Greg, Mark, Scott, Casey, Doug, Elaine Fitzgerald of Ft. Walton Beach Florida. Jon is also survived by nieces Gabriella and Gillian Cox and nephew Grayson Cox. Many cousins including Daniel, Jack, Sara Field and Deedra Cole of Brownwood and Danielle, Jacob, Luke, and Allison Waldrop, Zachary and Alexa Cole of Birmingham Alabama.
