Johnny B. Singleton of Rising Star passed away on Sunday, August 25th after a very brief illness. 
He was born on March 14, 1947 in Eureka, Texas to B.E. Singleton and Verla (McNeil) Singleton.  
He attended Mildred Schools and graduated from Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin State Universities. 
He began a lengthy career in Education at Frost High School in the Fall of 1969, then taught school in Kerens, Wortham, Trinidad, and Rising Star school districts for the past 21 years. He retired as  superintendent of Rising Star but stayed on to continue his passion for teaching in the classroom.  He worked through May of 2019 and touched many lives over the years. 
He also served as a Bi-Vocational Minister for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth, Daughters: Johnna Boucher of Rising Star, Beth Pate of Granbury, Melissa Singleton of Rising Star
Grandchildren: Ben, Bethany and Bree Boucher of Rising Star; and Caden Pate of Granbury. And special family friends Troy Wilson and Tim Trigg. 

He is also survived by sister: Patty Toland, Brother and Sister-in-law Robert and Martha Singleton; Brother-in-law, Nelson Galaway, all of Corsicana.  Sister-in-law and husband, Leah and Wayne Greenup of Canyon, and Brother-in-law and wife: Robert and Velma Ballew of Frost.  A great number of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

Visitation will be held at Heartland Funeral Home in Early on Tuesday, August 27th from 6:00 until 8:00.
Another visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery.
