Juan “Uncle John” Valdez, age 74, of Early passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020, in Abilene.
Funeral Mass for John will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at St. Mary’s Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Bhaskar Mendem officiating; private interment will be held at a later date.
Rosary will be held Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home with visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
John was born on September 25, 1945, to Jesse Sr. and Lucia (Rodriguez) Valdez in Goldthwaite. He worked for Brownwood Independent School District for over 20 years; he loved working there. John was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brownwood.
He loved gardening, fishing, listening to music and watching classic movies. Most of all, John loved his family, he claimed his nieces and nephews as his children.
John is survived by 3 brothers, Rafael Valdez, Pete Valdez, and David Valdez all of Early; 2 sisters, Katherine and Janie Valdez both of Early; stepsister, Christina Gonzales of Brownwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Sr. and Lucia Valdez; 4 brothers; and one sister.
