The following is a political announcement submitted by candidate John Lawson who is running for Brown County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2.
John W. Lawson Sr. announces his candidacy for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2 Brown County, Texas in the March 4th Republican Party Primary.
I was born and raised in Brown County Texas and have lived most of my life in the county. My wife, Debbie, and I are members of Heart of Texas Cowboy Church near Brookesmith, Texas where I serve as Lay Pastor and Chaplain. I also play bass in our little band.
I will devote myself to being a full time justice with no outside professional obligations.
I graduated Salutatorian with an AAS in Electronics in 1986 in Farmers Branch Texas; I was also certified by ISCET (International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians) prior to my graduation.
I worked for a local communications company for a total of about 17 years working with 2-way radios, cell phones and pagers. Most recently I worked on the cellular side of the business installing and maintaining the cellular tower sites.
I am a “HAM” radio operator and have been involved in SKYWARN (weather watchers) and ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services); a system of public service for the purpose of early warning and emergency communications during severe weather or disaster situations. I also attended the first Citizens Police Academy in Brownwood. I currently serve as the ADEC (Assistant District Emergency Coordinator) for ARES District 2 North Texas consisting of 10 counties.
I am a member of the local Brown County C.E.R.T.(Community Emergency Response Team), a Red Cross volunteer, and a Brownwood/Brown County Public Health Volunteer. I am also an endowed member of both Indian Creek and Bangs Masonic Lodges (PM of both).
I will serve as an honest and fair justice giving respect to ALL Brown County residents. I am a qualified leader who will be respectful, diligent and compassionate!
