A graveside funeral service with military honors for John Freeman, age 80, of May, will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in the Hawley Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 5:00.
Mr. Freeman died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
John was born on February 13, 1934 in Trent to James and Clealis (Moore) Freeman. He married Grace Lenora Griffith on January 9, 1954.
John had a long career in the US Navy before retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in June of 1974 after 22 years of service. He was a member of the Early Church of Christ.
John is survived by his wife 60 years, Grace Freeman of May; a sister, Brenda Boeseckers; daughter, Tina Pack, a son, Nolan Freeman, a daughter, Teresa Freeman; a son Markyl Freeman; a daughter, Susan Stewart; a daughter, Jennifer Hartzell; six granddaughters and five grandsons, two great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, two infant sons, Bonnie Joe Freeman and James Dean Freeman.
