John Carl Smith, age 70 a lifetime resident of Mullin passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020 in a Brownwood Hospital.
John Carl was born February 3, 1950 in Brownwood to John Roy Smith and Ima Jean (Wasserman) Smith.
He was a rancher in the Mullin area for many years. He had a strong passion for the outdoors, stock shows all over the Nation, his grandchildren, his foster children over the past 17 years, traveling and the sale barns in the area.
John Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sue Smith.
He is survived by three sons, Jamie Smith and his wife Deana of Zephyr, Jonathan Smith of Brownwood and Jason Smith of Pagosa Springs, CO; one daughter, Jennifer Driver and her husband Dane of Garden City; two step daughters, Shannon Mangus and Kathy Armendarez both of Mullin; a brother, Sammy Smith and his wife Patricia of Mullin; two sisters, Faylene Phillips and her husband Chipper and Tyline Green and her husband Tommy all of Mullin; ten grandchildren, Jessica, Jaylin, Hayden, Jordan, Dustin, Sidney ,JC, Jonathan, Gage and Esme as well as numerous foster children, nieces and nephews.
The Smith family will receive guest for a time of visitation from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Davis Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2020 in the chapel at Davis Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood. Interment services will follow in the Duren Cemetery in Mullin.
In place of usual remembrances the family suggest that memorial contributions be made to Brown County Youth Fair Supporters, care of Gayland Miller, 211 West Baker Street, Brownwood, Texas 76801 or to A World for Children, 1309 Early Blvd. Early, Texas 76802 in memory of John Carl Smith.
