Funeral services for Joe Scott, age 85, of Early, Texas will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Early, Texas with Bill Slaymaker officiating. Interment will follow in the Connell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early. He passed away Friday, February 06, 2015 in the San Angelo Community Medical Center.
Joseph Edward Scott was born in Hasse, Texas on October 15, 1929 to Bozie Washington and Iva Jewell Fields Scott. On, August 14, 1951 he was married to Collene Connally in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Joe served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. They moved from Fort Worth to Early in 1960 where he owned and operated his own concrete contracting business.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years Collene Scott of Early; son Terry Don Scott and wife Sonja of Deleon, Texas, daughters Vicky Rene Gammill and husband O.E. of Blanket, Texas and Letitia Gayle Mabry and husband Larry of Gypsum, Colorado. Eight grandchildren Mason McDonald, Brandon Meeks, Noelani Simpson, Amber Boswell, Joe Benningfield, Cody Benningfield, Jacob Scott and Ashlely Moore. Twenty Six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Also, one brother Gary Scott and wife Peggy of Sidney, Texas and four sisters Joyce Caffey and Geretha Cawthorne of Comanche, Texas , Faye Beckham of Weatherford, Texas and Ruthann Padron and husband Lonnie of Burkburnett, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
