Joe Michael Campbell, age 73, of Brownwood, Texas passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 1stat the Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Plainview.
Joe Michael was born on June 15, 1945 to John Wesley and Willie Dee Dyse Campbell in Crosbyton, Texas where he graduated Valedictorian of his high school class. On August 8, 1977, Joe married the love of his life Sandra Dee Osborn in Crosby County Together they worked many years in the irrigation supply business on the South Plains and moved to Lake Brownwood in 2006. Joe retired from the Home Depot in Brownwood and was a member of the First Christian Church. Joe had a spirit of Excellence in all he did and had many interests. Joe liked Louis Lamoure, old war stories, history, reading, sports and football. He was a lover of hunting deer, dove, pheasant, quail and antelope. He loved Wyoming and could always feel what the weather was going to do. Joe also had a deep love for music and played the guitar. Due to his declining health Joe had to take dialysis where he quickly earned the nickname of “Smiley”. He loved his wife and children dearly and had a special name for each of them. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his children Paula Couch and husband Weldon, Carol Lovelady and husband Craig, Cheryl McClure, Christy Craig, Douglas Michael and wife Gwen, Joe Buckley Campbell and wife Anna; sister Barbara Alexander; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson Nathan Don Baker and a brother Billy Ray Campbell.
