Joe F. Martin, age 83, of Bangs, passed from this life on December 4, 2019.
Joe was born on November 12, 1936 in Santa Anna to Mary “Edith” (Sikes) and Charles LeRoy “Roy” Martin. He was a graduate of Brookesmith schools.
Joe was a quiet and hard-working man. He owned his own drilling company, and punched holes throughout the United States to facilitate the discovery of our nation’s petroleum energy resources. Although he loved his family, Joe Frank had a bond with his beloved dog, Sarge, that would rival most Disney movie depictions. In his later years, Joe Frank enjoyed spending time at his lake camp site. Watching great grand kids, fishing or simply walking the acreage at camp seem to bring him peace. During his final few weeks of life, Joe Frank was reminded of what he already knew; he was loved. Joe was surrounded by his immediate family, and visited daily by grandchildren and great grandchildren. His family watched him laugh and smile and made sure that Joe Frank knew just how important he was and still is to them.
Joe is survived by two children, Kevin Martin and wife Rhonda of Lamesa and Carla Martin of St. George, Utah; four grandchildren, Cody Martin and wife Leslie of San Angelo, Courtney Parrott and husband Greg of Bangs, Lexy Burns and husband Jerame of Moses Lake, Washington and Brad Perez and wife Karley of Kentucky and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Cindy (Flanagan) Martin.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take this time to reach out and visit with your own grandparents or parents, and let them know how much they are loved. We also request you donate to your local animal shelter, to support the next “Sarge” that may find his way into someone else’s heart, the way Joe’s dog found its way in to his.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
