Joe Bill Barrett of Brownwood passed away at home October 12, 2011. He was born November 15, 1926 in Bedias, Texas.
.Joe Bill graduated from Brownwood High School in 1944. He was proud to be a Navy veteran. He served aboard the U.S.S. Maryland during World War II. Following his naval service, Joe Bill attended Texas A&M University graduating in 1952 with a degree in Geology. He worked in oil/gas/mineral exploration in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arizona and Utah.
Joe Bill is survived by his best friend and companion, Helen Stalcup, his daughter Sharon Williams (Dick), son Terry Barrett (Betsy), son Frank Barrett (Karetta), grandchildren: Scott Williams (Holly), Branda Mauldin (Bill), Kevin Barrett (Tracy), Tamara Caracappa (Brian), Alison Miller-Vigel (Billy), Natalie Barrett, and 10 great-grandchildren. His family and friends will miss his humor and storytelling, love of family, commitment to friends, Aggie spirit and Navy pride.
Joe Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Emory Barrett and Willora Stuart Barrett and his wife, Pat Barrett.
A private family service was arranged by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
