Funeral services for Jodell Fairrow, age 78, of Brownwood, will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 25, 2015 in the Heartland Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in the Salt Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
Mr. Fairrow died Tuesday, September 22, 2015 in Brownwood.
Jodell Fairrow was born on March 29, 1937 in Brownwood to Johnnie and Myrtle (Pittman) Fairrow. Jodell married Owetia Rush on March 29, 1956 in Brownwood. He worked for Texas Feathers for many years before retiring. He then went on to work for City of Brownwood, Senior Citizen Center, delivering Meals on Wheels for 10 years. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, working with his hands, and always found great pleasure in telling stories to his grandchildren.
Jodell is survived by his two daughters, Serena Guthrie of Brownwood and Shannon Gober and husband Kirk of Zephyr, five grandchildren, Kristen Hyatt and husband Jason, Christopher Merritt and wife Tonya, Tyler Parsons and wife Katie, Cooper Merritt (currently serving our country in Germany) and wife Brittany, and Trey Guthrie; three great-grandchildren, Gage Hernandez, Kent Parsons, and Uriah Merritt; a niece, Teresa Gowin and numerous other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Owetia in 2013, a son, Rickie Dale Fairrow, four brothers, Ocie Fairrow, Jerry Charles Fairrow, Willie Calvin Fairrow, and Clarence Fairrow; two sisters, Edith Benson and Violet McDonald.
