Jimmy F. Bunnell, 96, went to Heaven on Tuesday October, 23, 2012 at the CARE Nursing Center in Early, Texas. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, 800 Center Ave. in Brownwood, Texas. Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm, Friday October 26 at Davis-Morris.
Jimmy was born to the late George Frank Bunnell and Leota Cordelia Pemberton on June 27, 1916 in Fort Worth, Texas. He had lived in Brownwood, Texas since 1932 and graduated from Brownwood High School in 1934. Jimmy attended Howard Payne College for 2 years and later joined the Army Air Corp in 1942 where he proudly served our country during WW II until 1946. Jimmy was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal for his service.
In 1946, he married Sue Estelle English of Moran, Texas. During their 46 years of marriage they raised two sons, James and Frank. Jimmy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brownwood for over 60 years. He worked as an Armour Star meat salesman until his retirement in 1977. He then sold cars for Rex Wyatt Motors for 8 years and retired in 1985. Jimmy loved to play golf and was an avid Bridge and 42 player for many years. He dearly loved his grandchildren, Piper, Rebecca, Chad and Grayson. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports and fish.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his son, James G. Bunnell in 1980, his wife Sue Bunnell in 1992, and his sister Gayle Smith in 2001.
He is survived by his son, Frank L. Bunnell and wife Kathy of Abilene, Texas; granddaughters, Piper Perlichek and husband Kory of Mason, Texas and Rebecca Gilbreth and Husband Joe of Austin, Texas; grandsons, Chad Bunnell of Austin Texas and Grayson Bunnell of Abilene, Texas; great grandchildren James, Corinne, Grace and Tori Perlichek and Joe Luther Gilbreth, and his niece, Linda Hughes of Houston, Texas.
