Jimmie Lowe Reed, age 70, of Brownwood Texas left his earthly home on December 10, 2019.
A graveside service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 21, 2019 in the Bangs Cemetery with David Barnum officiating.
Jimmie was born on September 20, 1949 in Brownwood to Jack Jarrell Reed and Juanita “Fay” Lowe Reed. He was a graduate of Early High School and Howard Payne University where he played basketball for both. One of his fondest memories was playing against the Harlem Globetrotters. Jimmie grew up in Brookesmith, TX on Clear Creek and spent a lot of time in his grandparent’s grocery store. He had a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, and trapping that he shared with his daughters and grandchildren. He also enjoyed tennis and golf and watching football. Jimmie took over his father’s wholesale minnow business delivering bait to the Lake Brownwood area. He also was a guide on local lakes. He had several jobs growing up including King’s Grocery and Academy Lanes. Later on he sold real estate, worked for Superior Cable and then retired from the Brown County Water Improvement District. Jimmie was a volunteer firefighter for the Early Volunteer Fire Department for many years. After his retirement, he continued his love of hunting and fishing, playing dominoes with many close friends, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Brownwood.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Fay Reed.
Survivors include his two daughters, Kimberly & Kennith Gosnell of Sheboygan, WI and Traci & Bobby Jolly of Tahoka, TX, and his sister Sherrie Doud of Brownwood. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kyle & wife Caitlin Gosnell of Fayetteville, NC, Kolton Gosnell of Sheboygan, WI, Kassidy & husband Boomer Colmery of Brownwood, Katie Gosnell of Brownwood, Peyton Jolly and Bayle Jolly both of Tahoka, TX.
In lieu of flowers family asks that donations be made to Lynn County EMS or Early Volunteer Fire Department.
