A memorial service for Jim Helt, age 72, of Zephyr, will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at First Christian Church.
Jim passed from this life on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the William P. Clements, Jr. University Hospital in Dallas.
James Charles Helt was born on November 23, 1944 in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania to James William and Grace Lillian (Mock) Helt. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in education from Sul Ross University. He taught for a number of years in the Ysleta and Clint school districts before retiring to Zephyr. He was a member of First Christian Church in Brownwood.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nila Helt, of Zephyr; two sons, Charles Helt and wife Heather of Bangs and James Robert Helt and wife Jamie of Buda; a daughter Michelle Gibson and husband (Charles) of Grand Prairie; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Steve Helt and wife Betsy of Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
