The Brownwood Art Association will host their “First Thursday” event on August 1st featuring artwork by Jill Keesee with her original art glass mosaics. The event will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Art Center at 215 Fisk Avenue in Brownwood. The public is invited to attend this event, which is free of charge.
Jill is a local artist who began her art career in the early 80’s working her way through art school at her mother’s art gallery and frame shop in an affluent area in Austin. She was able to rub elbows with many of the top artist’s of the time including Armando Pena, Jr. and Michael Atkinson. She gained inspiration from that exposure and joined Starving Artists of Austin Co-op. Fast forward to Brownwood and many art projects later, she has worked in many different art mediums and she found new challenges and inspiration in mixed medium mosaics.
Begging people for their broken dishes and glass, she jumped in with both feet and started Humpty Dumpty Mosaics. First showing at the Brownwood Reunion and since then she has displayed her work at many area trade days and at the Brian Drake Studio in Stephenville. She then expanded to online sales on Etsy.com and Humptydumptymosaics.comHer greatest accomplishment was being accepted in the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit in 2013 on her first attempt with one entry. She also enjoys conducting demo’s for adults and children.
The “First Thursday” event is free of charge and organizers invite the community to bring their family and friends to enjoy art and refreshments at this come and go event.
