A graveside funeral service for Jewel Hutchins, age 75, of Bangs, will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 2, 2016 in the Bangs Cemetery, with David Barnum officiating. Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jewel passed from this life on Monday, November 28, 2016 in Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston.
Jewel Denton Hutchins was born on November 23, 1941 in Brownfield, Texas to William Earl and Janice (Travis) Denton. She was raised in Seminole and graduated from Seminole High School in the Class of 1960. She graduated from Howard Payne University in 1964 with her Bachelor of Science in elementary education with a minor in physical education. Jewel began her teaching career in Cross Plains. In 1994 she moved Bangs where she taught first grade for the next 12 years before retiring in 2006.
Jewel was a member of Grosvenor Baptist Church. She enjoyed volunteering at her church.
Jewel is survived by two daughters, Tammy Stilley and husband Alan of Bremond, Texas and Stephanie Brewer and husband J.D. of Bangs and a son, Danny Hutchins of Bangs; eight grandchildren, Ashley Wichers, Alan Stilley, Jr., Britney Newton, Alaina Stilley, J.T. Newton, Viola Hutchins, Colton Brewer and Kaitlyn Hutchins and a great-grandchild, Avery Jewel Newton; two sisters, Alice Golden McLeod of Cedar Hill and Kathleen Bennett and husband Carl of Seminole.
She was preceded in death her parents and a sister, Amy Irene Denton.
