JessicaAckerEarly resident Jessica Acker has announced her candidacy for Brown County Commissioner, Precinct 3. Acker says, if elected, she will draw from her business and management experience to make sure tax dollars are used efficiently to minimize the tax burden to Brown County property owners.

Acker’s business experience centers around the restaurant industry, where she had to manage inventory, labor cost, management teams and employees. During her career, she made unprofitable restaurants profitable, optimized performance, and managed a store with $3 million in annual sales.

Following her restaurant management career, Acker entered the broadcast industry, where she became the traffic director for a company that owned seven radio stations across Northeast Texas. Her duties included inventory control and management, scheduling, and financial oversight.

Currently, Acker serves as the strategic national stockpile assistant at the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department, where she works with the Public Health Preparedness team to make sure Brown County is prepared in the event of a pandemic, or bioterrorism attack.

If elected to the Brown County Commissioners’ Court, Acker pledges to:

  • Vote against property tax increases.
  • Properly oversee material inventory and usage at the Precinct 3 Maintenance Facility.
  • Develop a plan for regular county road maintenance.
  • Advocate for the best interests of Precinct 3 residents.

Acker is running for Precinct 3 Commissioner in the Republican Primary.
