Funeral services for Jeral D. Smith, 83, of Brownwood, will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, in the Netherton Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Rick Justice officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Creek Cemetery under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home and Cremations. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, July 17, at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith passed away on July 15, 2012 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Jeral Duane Smith was born on May 30, 1929, to W.H. Smith and Ruby Holden Smith in Chillicothe, Texas . He married Patricia Ann Sloan on February 27, 1949 in Vernon, Texas . She preceded him in death on June 1, 2011. He had lived at Lake Brownwood since 1971 and was a charter member of the Lake Brownwood Volunteer Fire Department. He worked for Earl Clements & Son Wholesale and had managed Ponca Wholesale & Grocery Supply Company until he retired.
He is survived by his daughter, Jerri and Ronnie Williams of Granbury; grandchildren Jeff and Becky Williams and Casey and Garth Weaver both of Granbury; great-grandchildren, Gracie Ann Weaver, Mattie Marie Weaver, and Drew Blair Henderson; nephews, William Jeral and Diane Smith and Jess Alexander Smith, both of Gambrills Maryland and great-nieces and nephews, Shannon and Nick Cherone of Glen Burnie Maryland and William “Will” Smith of Gambrills Maryland
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.H. and Ruby Smith; his wife, Patricia; and three brothers, Clint Wade Smith, Norman Vestel Smith, and Billy Truman Smith.
