Mrs. Fritcher passed away at the CARE Nursing Home in Early, TX, August 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Jennie was born to Charles and Ethel Loyd on August 11, 1924 in St. Francis, KS, where she spent her childhood years mostly in St. Francis, KS, with the exception of a few years when the family lived in Oregon. She married the love of her life, Willie R Fritcher of Deanville, TX, on May 31, 1945, in Denver, CO where they were both in training, Willie was in the Army stationed at Lowry Field and Jennie was in nurses training at St. Luke’s Hospital. They lived in Denver until Willie was discharged from the service and they moved to Deanville, TX where they lived with his folks, William & Julia (Zgabay) Fritcher for a couple of years. They moved to Caldwell, TX in 1948 where they built their home and raised a family.
In 1952, they built the Dairy King in Caldwell and owned and operated it for many years. Jennie spent her life serving the Lord, her family and friends, and those in need. She practiced her faith and was always ready with a home-cooked meal for those sick or grieving, with groceries, paying bills, prayers, bible study, etc to help out her fellow man, always with a ready smile. Later, she worked as a nurse at Goodnight Memorial Hospital, a teacher’s aide at the elementary school, the secretary of the Burleson/Lee Soil Conservation Service, and at the local library (she loved reading), Woodson Library for a number of years. As a teenager, she taught in a one room school in Kansas. She exemplified her Christian faith throughout her life. She was our angel on earth with a pure and gentle heart and will be greatly missed beyond words by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers – Charles, Ivan, and Garold Loyd; three sisters -Opal Burr, Frances Krien, Jean Cross; and a nephew, Bob Cross.
She is survived by one sister, Vada Loker; one son, William (Chuck) Charles Fritcher and wife Bettye; two daughters, Carol Wilcox and husband Tom, Bonnie Tumlinson and husband Jay; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that a donation be sent to Girling (Lighthouse) Hospice, 107 South Park Ste E, Brownwood, TX 76801 in her honor. They did an awesome job loving and caring for her as well as all the many kind and loving employees at CARE Nursing Facility. Our thanks and love to them all.
