Jeanne Wilson Compere died on Friday, July 29, 2011, in Brownwood. A private family burial was held on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Jeanne was born March 11, 1928, in Brownsburg, Ind. She and her parents Wilber and Bea Wilson, later moved to St. Petersburg, Fla. During World War II, Jeanne met Ed Compere, who she was married to in New York City in 1946. They returned to Abilene in 1948. Jeanne’s life was active as a homemaker, rearing her two daughters and assisting her husband in his travels as a real estate appraiser and lecturer.

She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Compere of Abilene and Jan Monroe of Lake Brownwood; her grandchildren, Jaycee and husband Joe Carter of Spring Branch, Justin and wife Channa Jones of Brownwood and Courtney Monroe of Brownwood; and four great-grandchildren, Carley, Carsyn and Katie Carter and Emerson Jones.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Services were under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early, Texas.
