Funeral services for Jean Petty, age 71, of Brownwood, will be Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 2:30 PM in the Heartland Funeral Chapel Early, Texas. Interment will follow at Jordan Springs Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday from 6-8 PM.
Mrs. Petty passed away Wednesday November 13, 2013.
Jean was born November 26, 1941 in Brenham, Texas to August Leus and Pauline Dietrich Leus. On April 21, 1962 Jean married Larry Petty in Brownwood, Texas. She was a member of the Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood. She lived twenty five years in Fairbanks, Alaska where she was the only Registered Nurse certified to administer oncology medication. Jean loved to read, and she loved her work in the medical profession as a RN. She also loved to live on the farm.She is survived by her husband Larry Petty of Brownwood, two sons; Walan and wife Vicki Kite of Brownwood and Jeff Kite of Brownwood, two granddaughters Brandi and Tiffany Kite of Brownwood, Five great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by a sister Paula and husband Ed Poole of Michigan, a nephew Paul Baker of Huntsville, Texas, a niece Judy Baker of Huntsville, Texas. Other nieces are Angela, Missy, Sabrina, Glenda, Charlie, Christie, and Tiny Jean, a nephew Melvin Lee. She is preceded in death by her parents, step-father H.A. Thomas, mother-in-law Bonita Petty, father-in-law Roscoe Petty, sister-in-law Louise Welch, and daughter-in-law Billie Kite. The family request all flowers be potted plants.
