JeanMilamDorothy Jean Byrd Milam passed from this life on Friday, September 4, 2009 at her home after a 11 month battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Davis Morris Funeral Home Chapel, interment to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early. Visitation will be held Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born July 12, 1926 on the Byrd Ranch near Blanket, Tx to William Silas and Eula (Sears) Byrd. She graduated from Early High School in 1943 and graduated in 1947 from Texas State College for Women in Denton, Tx, now known as TWU. She married Clifford B. Milam, Jr. in Brownwood on September 6, 1947. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage before he passed away in 1998. She taught school in Zephyr, Ysleta Public School in El Paso, and Woodland Heights Elementary in Brownwood. After retiring they raised registered polled Herefords, collected antique cars, and played golf. They were long time members of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood.

She is survived by, two daughters and sons in law, Kim and George Campbell of Blanket, and Patti and Davis Bushman of Burleson; Five grandchildren, Courtney and Adam Greene, Katie Campbell, Chris Bushman, Casey and Sarah Bushman, and Cara Bushman; two sisters, Velma Graham of Brownwood, and Margie Reese of Vernon, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris and Walter Mazurek of Comanche; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband C.B. and a brother Silas Byrd.

The family also appreciates the wonderful care given by Loretta Young, Sharon Gunter and everyone at Solaris Hospice Agency during a most difficult time. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Coggin Avenue Baptist Church or charity of choice.
