Funeral Services for J.B. Ratliff, age 89, of Brownwood will be held Saturday, December 08, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Brownwood with John Beckling officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Anna Cemetery in Santa Anna, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. He passed away Friday December 02, 2012. J.B. was born on August 26, 1923 in Mullin, Texas to L.C. and Erie (Dudley) Ratliff.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII from 1942 to 1945. J.B then married Lavern (McSwain) in Brownwood, Texas in 1946. They were members of Central United Methodist Church. He was a devoted family man, a loving husband, father, grand-dad, and great grand-dad. He also loved fishing and reading. He worked for O.L. McCullough and Roberts Body Shops throughout his career as an auto body mechanic. He enjoyed being outdoors and maintaining his beautiful lawn.
J.B. is survived by his 3 daughters, Shirley Ann Holy of Brownwood, Kay Spraberry of Stamford, Texas, Connie Ratliff Floyd and husband Greg of Dallas, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Mark Holy, Jeanne Holy, Amanda Nolen, Casey Spraberry, and Michael Matza; 4 great-grandchildren, Jasmine Holy, Sarah Holy, Jacob Holy, and Kaitlyn Holy; a sister Mary Nell Welch and husband Earl; a sister-in-law, Lucille Ratliff; a brother-in-law, Jerry Don McSwain and wife Sandra, and their daughter, Kathy McSwain; also numerous nieces and nephews. J.B is preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Erie Ratliff, and his beloved wife Lavern (McSwain) Ratliff.
