Funeral services for Janis Oney, age 82, of Lake Brownwood will be held at 2 PM Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the funeral home. Mrs. Oney passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018.
Janis was born August 3, 1935 in Archer City to Harry Tilman and Maggie Corrine (Norman) Ivy. She attended college at Western University in Silver City, New Mexico. She was a Baptist and a member of the Santana Chapter 247 of Eastern Star. Janis loved to dance, camping and crafting.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her children, Vicki Burrell and husband, Bruce of Lake Brownwood; Connie Marie Gibson of Lake Brownwood and Patsy Jane Ellington and husband Ruben Hurt of Colorado City; grandchildren, Cynthia Ann Van Curen and husband Teddy, James Bryan Schleglemilch and wife, Tessa; Gina Nichole Carter, Martha Marie Landin and husnand Troy and Jessica Lynn Hanson and husband Tyler; sisters Novelle Ivy Delcambre, Inez Ivy Jones and Faye Kocks Fleming; many great grandchildren; one great-great grandson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John A. Oney; son, Bryan Gibson; parents; brother, Jackie Joe Ivy, twin sister, Jencie Lee Landry, sister Susy Kocks, Cora Kocks Woolen and infant sister, Nancy Janell Ivy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Santana Chapter 247 of the Eastern Star or the Salvation Army.
