Janice M. Shields, age 64, of Brownwood died Friday evening at the Abilene Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday in the Salt Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Mize officiating. Burial will follow in the Salt Creek Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Visitation will be held from 6 – 7 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born August 24, 1945 in Coleman, Texas the daughter of the late Charlie and Geneva Holland Van Pelt. She graduated from the Coleman High School and married Sidney Shields in Coleman on August 28, 1963. She worked many years ago for Eddie’s Drug and had worked as a clerk for Wal-Mart, TG&Y, Sears, and other retail stores. She had been a resident of Brownwood for the past 40 years and was a member of the Salt Creek Baptist Church where she loved to sing. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Sidney Shields of Brownwood
A Daughter – Alisha Dawn Wilkinson and husband Erik of Odessa
2 Grandchildren – Mason Cole and Dalton Michael Wilkinson
A sister, Laverne Van Pelt of Brownwood
A brother-in-law – Don Seaton of Brownwood
A host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 Brothers, C.R. and Jake Van Pelt, a sister, Lois Seaton, and a nephew, Charlie Van Pelt.
