Big Brothers Big Sisters of Brown County has recently hired Gina Jameson to fill the position of Regional Executive Director. Jameson comes to BBBS from Family Services Center where she was the Volunteer, Outreach and Literacy Coordinator.
Jameson is a graduate of Howard Payne University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication with majors in Public Relations and Multi Media. She has served the community on the boards of the American Red Cross and Family Services Center, Early Chamber of Commerce, and Central Texas Opportunity Policy Council. She has actively served on committees for Brownwood Reunion Celebration, Relay For Life, A Day In the Park, Bowl For Kid’s Sake, and various other events.
The main objective for Jameson is to provide mentors for all of the children of Brown County who wish to have one. This can only be accomplished through the recruitment of volunteer mentors, sharing the opportunity with the community and raising the funding to support matches.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a donor supported and volunteer organization that provides children between the ages of 6 and 13 with adult mentors. The mission is to enrich, encourage and empower children to reach their highest potential through safe, positive, one-to-one mentoring relationships with measured impact. Studies show that children that have a Big Brother or Big Sister show an improvement in school work and classroom behavior. They are less likely to skip school, be involved in delinquent behavior or use drugs.
