Graveside services for James (Red) Rust, age 72, of Bangs, Texas will be held 2:00 PM Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Bangs Cemetery under the direction of the Heartland Funeral Home of Early. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Rust passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 in Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
James Harold also known as Jimmy or Red was born on November 1, 1944 in Brownwood, Texas to William Ethan and Alice Mae Laird Rust and was married to Ashley Nicole Leverett in Tampa, Florida on December 1, 2001. He served in the United States Navy for 23 years before retiring to Bangs where he had been a resident for the past 10 years.
Survivors include his wife Ashley Leverett-Rust; daughter Lauren Doughlin; son Jarad Ethan Rust; grandsons Trey, Elijah, Donovan, and Xavier; sisters Bennetta Watkins and husband Steve and Jane Darlene Sliger; brother Johnny Eugene Rust and wife Shirlie and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Robert Jack Rust and one sister Jean Irene Johnston.
Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
