James C. (Jimmie) Mayes, age 91, passed away December 13, 2013, in Brownwood, Texas.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 16, 2013, at 11:00 AM in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Skaggs presiding. Visitation will be held Monday, December 16, 2013, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park, Early, Texas.
Ms. Mayes married Jay Mayes in 1940 at Cross Plains, Texas. Jay was a proud member of the Texas Highway Patrol stationed in Brownwood. Jimmie worked in the banking profession for Republic National bank in Brownwood. Jimmie was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church. Jimmie enjoyed bowling, and won a number of awards in the ladies division in Brown County.
Jimmie was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Jay and sisters, RosaVan (Lane) Cox and Mary Eloise Lane.
Ms. Mayes is survived by her nephews, Franklin Cox and wife Sharolyn, James Cox and wife Doris, and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
