Funeral services for James Henry “Jimmie” King, age 93, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, December 20, 2015 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Skaggs officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:30.
Mr. King passed from this life on Thursday, December 17, 2015 in Brownwood.
Jimmie was born on August 10, 1922 in Brownwood to Edward L. and Estelle Ruth (Grooms) King. He attended Brownwood schools before joining the Army. He served his country with several tours in Europe before World War II ended. He received the Bronze Star for his military service.
Jimmie married Adelia Clay on February 15, 1945 in Brownwood. For 70 years, he was a loving husband to Adelia. Jimmie was co-owner of King’s Grocery and Market for over 50 years, where he managed the meat market.
Jimmie was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He had previously been a member at Coggin and Central Baptist Churches where he served as a deacon.Jimmie is survived by his wife Adelia King of Brownwood, a daughter Debbie Chrisman and husband Nicky of Llano, a brother, Eddie King of Brownwood, his best friend Ronnie Mills and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Emma Overton.
