Funeral services for James D. Osborn, 79, of Brownwood, will be held at 10 am on Monday, August 22, in the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Santa Anna Cemetery, under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 pm on Sunday, August 21, at the funeral home.
Mr. Osborn passed away on Friday, August 19, 2011, at a local nursing home.
James Dayton Osborn was born on April 3, 1932, in Santa Anna Texas, to James Willie “Bill” Osborn and Sara Isbelle Hurt Osborn. He was raised in Brown County and attended school in Comanche.
Mr. Osborn served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and on March 20, 1972, he married Peggy Gibbs. Together, they made their home in Brownwood until moving to Winters in 1978. He retired from Alderman Cave and was a member of Indian Creek Church.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Michael Osborn and Steve Osborn, both of Brownwood, Mona Walker and Debby Osborn, both of Austin, Tina Frost of Woodland Hills, California, Becky McBride, of Brownwood and Joel Gean Ray of Seattle Washington; his brother, Kenneth Osborn of Mullin, and two sisters, Frances Fisher of Amarillo and Rusty Smith of Mullin. He is also survived by his stepmother, Eddie Osborn of Brownwood, 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Sara Osborn, his wife, Peggy Gibbs Osborn, and his beloved pet Bebo.
