James Arlis Feltner passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2019.
A visitation will be Tuesday, January 29, 2019 from 6-7 PM at Heartland Funeral Home and a Celebration of Life service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Heartland Funeral Chapel, 303 Early Blvd., Early TX 76802
James was born to Walter and Dottie Feltner in Rapid City, South Dakota on April 12, 1964. He attended Brownwood High School his freshman and sophomore year but graduated in Brookesmith in 1982. James married Kimberly Newsom June 4th, 1982 right after high school and their union was blessed with their daughter, Jami Feltner. James started his career in transmission repair in 1981 working for Steve Hager at Brownwood Transmission. He opened his own transmission business in 1987. James did transmission work in his own home shop for many years. Most recently he worked at Carlton Automotive as a transmission specialist. He attended the Heart of Texas Cowboy Church in Brown County and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. James loved to hunt, fish and was particularly fond of deep sea fishing. When he was younger, he and his brother-in-law were into “sand drag racing”. He always had a love for Harley Davidson motorcycles and enjoyed fixing up his truck. His daughter was close to his heart and remembers him being involved in her “punt, pass & kick” games when she was younger.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly Feltner of Brookesmith; daughter, Jami Feltner of Brookesmith, TX; mother, Dottie Holleman of Brownwood, TX; mother-in-law, Joyce Newsom of Brookesmith; sister, Leisha and husband Lucko Self of Rising Star, Angie and Jay Hellums of Giddings, TX; brothers, Cliff & Kyle Feltner of Kentucky, Bobby Feltner and wife Kim from San Antonio, TX, Wayne Holleman, Blake and wife Leslie Holleman of Brownood, TX; brother-in-law, Kenneth and wife Becky Newsom; sister-in-law, Beverly Holleman of Brownwood, TX, Kathy and husband Danny Welch of Winchell, TX; a grandson and light of his life, Anfernee a.k.a. Ky; and numerous nieces, nephews & friends.
James was preceded in death by his father, Walter Bearl Feltner and step mother Bonnie Feltner; step father, Dale Holleman; brother, Harold Feltner; grandparents George & Dorothy Roberts; and a step brother, Bart Holleman.
