Day_JamesAllenFuneral services for James Day, 61, of Coleman, formerly of Early, will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, September 14, in the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Burkett Cemetery under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home and Cremations. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, September 13, at the funeral home.

Mr. Day passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at his home in Coleman.

James Allen Day was born on June 19, 1950, in Okra Texas, to James Alonzo Day and Faye Coffey Day. He married Doris Clemons on October 15, 1982, in Lovington New Mexico. James was a Godly man who always saw to everyone else before himself. He loved playing music for his church and others and enjoyed fishing. One of his favorite past-times was going to auctions, and he was going through the steps to become an auctioneer at the time of his passing. He worked in the construction field as a painter and was a member of Haven of Hope Church in Brownwood.

 

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris Day of Early; children, Ron Clemons of Early, Carlotta Arthur and husband Frank, of Brownwood and Karen Matthews and husband Charles, of Seven Points; brothers and sisters Kenneth and Linda Day, of Coleman, James and Rhonda Davis, of Lake Brownwood, and Donnie Wright, Jo Ann Storey and husband Robert, of Coleman and Katherine Richardson and husband Terry, of Blytheville Arkansas.

He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Myrtie Storey of Brownwood, Melba McBride of May and Charles and Lil’ Brown of Comanche. 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and other family members also survive him.

His parents, James and Faye Day and his stepfather, Jimmy Davis, preceded him in death.
