Brownwood News – Jacobs Family Pharmacy is pleased to announce the installation of MedSafe Drop, a licensed medication disposal drop for prescription and over-the-counter medications.

“With the increased awareness of opioid abuse and deaths, we felt a desire to offer the community a safe, anonymous, responsible way to dispose of expired or unneeded medications, including controlled, non-controlled, and over-the counter medicines,” said Tim Jacobs, owner of Jacobs Family Pharmacy.  “We also find that many caregivers and relatives need a place to go with medications remaining after a loved one has passed away.  As a society, we understand that flushing unwanted medications isn’t safe for our water supply.  MedSafe Drop is a safe, responsible choice for disposing of these medications.”

Community members can drop off unused or unneeded medications from any pharmacy in the MedSafe locked metal box located inside Jacobs Family Pharmacy.  These medications are later removed by an authorized collector.

Jacobs Family Pharmacy is located at 2701 Austin Avenue across from East Elementary. The pharmacy is open Monday-Friday 8A-6P, Saturday 8A-noon, closed Sunday. For questions call 325-646-1100 or visit their website at www.jacobsfamilypharmacy.com.
