runningpichpuMississippi College (6-2, 5-1 ASC) turned the ball over seven times as Howard Payne University (4-4, 2-4 ASC) ruined homecoming with a 38-24 upset of the 13th-ranked Mississippi College in Robinson-Hale Stadium.

Howard Payne played near mistake-free football with no turnovers in the game and just four penalties. They took advantage of the seven turnovers to pile up 523 yards of offense led by quarterback Zach Hubbard who passed for 453 yards and five touchdowns by completing 27-50 passes. 

HPU WR Tre Mason had four catches for 114 yards and two TD’s. Corbin Young also added 103 yards on seven receptions with two touchdowns, they were the first of his career.

Kevin Reyna led the HPU defensive unit with a game high 12 solo tackles with an interception. Safety Jordan Pfenenger added two interceptions and returned one for 57 yards. Joey Lewis and Dustin McClure had the other two HPU interceptions.

The MC offense ran for a season-high 321 yards led by junior running back Steven Knight who finished with 218 yards on 34 carries. MC quarterback Adam Shaffer finished the night 22-40 for 209 yards with two touchdowns and five interceptions.
