jacketbasketball_logoAUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia University Texas Tornados opened up an 18-point halftime lead and never back in a 110-81 win over the Howard Payne University Yellow Jackets Thursday evening.

The HPU Jackets shot 50% from the field in the game, but Concordia was at 52%, out-rebounded the Jackets by 10, and forced 26 HPU turnovers.

HPU’s Brandon Irwin led all scorers with 27 points. Donovan Gardner added nine points and five rebounds.

CTX had five players in double digits with Tayler Jacobs with 17. Darius Anderson had 16, Kenny Williams and Chris McOmber had 12 each, and Donald Lee added 11.

Howard Payne falls to 5-16 overall and 4-13 in ASC play. Concordia improves to 13-8 overall and 11-6 in conference action.

The Jackets will have a four game home stand to end the regular season starting with Texas Lutheran University this next Thursday.
