Make it five conference wins in-a-row for the Jackets now as the Howard Payne Men’s soccer team shuts-out McMurry 3-0 Saturday afternoon at Edwards Field.
In the 14th minute Shane Cazad would score with an assist from Cameron Jannati to take the early 1-0 lead. The goal was his third of the weekend road trip to Abilene and ninth of the year.
HPU would add to their lead when Kevin Rule found Misael Carreno for his first of two goals on the afternoon in the 34th minute. Carreno next struck midway through the second half in the 73rd minute on an assist from Luis Tamez to make the final score 3-0. HPU had 14 of 24 shots on goal. McM finished with 5 of their 16 shots on goal.
HPU Keeper Malcolm Framjee finished with the clean sheet and had 5 saves in the match.
The HPU men go to 10-3-1 overall and 8-3-0 in the American Southwest. McM are now 1-13-0 overall and 1-8-0 in the ASC.
The next game for the men will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 in Belton against The Cru of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
