CLARKSVILLE, Ark – The Howard Payne University men’s basketball team moved to 1-1 in conference action with an 84-77 road win over the University of the Ozarks.
The Yellow Jackets shot a red hot 59% from the field and 55% (10 of 18) from behind the three-point line in the game.
Leading by as much as 12, the Jackets held a 48-38 halftime lead. The Jackets also lead the entire game holding off a late push by Ozarks for the 84-77 win.
Brandon Irwin finished with a game high 21 points. Joshua Dada provided a spark off the bench with 16 points and six rebounds. Brit Campbell had a strong game with 12 points on 4 of 4 shooting from behind the arc.
Ozarks was led by Andre Williams with 18 points and Marcus Bobb followed with 14. Jerard McGinty and Jermery Victor added 10 points each.
Howard Payne improves to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in ASC play while Ozarks falls to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in ASC action.
The Jackets will play next at home on Thursday against Louisiana College at 7:30 pm.
