RICHARDSON, Texas – The Howard Payne men’s basketball team fell 92-50 to the University of Texas at Dallas to open American Southwest Conference action Saturday afternoon.
UT-Dallas scored 27 points off of 20 Howard Payne turnovers and out-rebounded the Jackets 41-33 in the game.
After leading 43-17 at the half, UT-Dallas extended their lead in the second half and went on to win 92-50.
Howard Payne was led by Henry Valladares with 13 points. Kanyon Payne and Donovan Gardner added eight points each. Zane Smith dished out four assists.
UTD’s Curtis Davis led all with 22 points. Chris Barnes followed with 19 points and nine rebounds. Brandon Green added seven assists.
Howard Payne now stands at 1-4 overall and 0-1 in ASC action, while UTD improves to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in ASC play.
Howard Payne will play next on Monday in Clarksville, Ark against the University of the Ozarks at 7:30 pm.
