Not much went Howard Payne’s way Thursday in a 115-69 loss to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at the Mayborn Center.
Howard Payne shot just 29% from the field in the first half and found themselves down 54-29 at the break. UMHB shot 60% in the first half and 61.4% from the game.
The Jackets were also out-rebounded 42-29 in the game. UMHB committed just nine turnovers while forcing 20 from HPU.
Howard Payne was led by Brandon Irwin with 21 points, all in the second half. Michael Thompson followed with 10 points.
UMHB had six players in double-digits. Marlon Miller had 21 points. Kitrick Bell added 20, James Allen had 16, Robert Moore had 14 and Dean Pele had 12.
Howard Payne falls to 5-15 overall and 4-12 in conference, UMHB stands at 16-4 overall and 12-4 in ASC play.
The Jackets will be in Austin on Saturday to play Concordia Texas at 3:00 pm.
