In a one sided game, Hardin Simmons University beat the Howard Payne baseball team 23-0 Thursday afternoon at Don Shepard Park.
The Jackets had seven errors compared to only four hits on the day. Hardin-Simmons had 25 hits and scored in every inning besides the second and ninth.
HSU pitcher, Tim Kriegel pitched the complete game shutout and carried a one-hitter into the bottom of the eighth. Kriegel had 14 strikeouts, and only allowed two walks on the day.
Jonathan Morris for the Jackets picked up the loss, pitching two innings, allowing seven hits for six earned runs and he struck out two.
The Jackets record goes to 13-12 on the year and 4-6 in the ASC. HSU is now 13-12 overall and 7-3 in conference.
The Jackets next games are in a double header against HSU starting at 1 p.m. April 2, at Don Shepard Park.
