The Howard Payne baseball team dropped a weekend series to the University of Texas at Tyler 4-6, 0-6, and 2-11.
On Friday, the Yellow Jackets held a 4-3 lead after six innings but gave up three runs in the bottom of the eighth to fall 4-6. Gregg Parker and Houston Holmes recorded two hits each for the Jackets. Holmes also had two RBI.
Game one on Saturday saw UT-Tyler scoring three runs in the second and fifth innings to win 0-6. Gregg Parker, Jordan Hammontree and Kevin Young all recorded hits for the Jackets.
In the second game of the double header, the Jackets found themselves down early with UT-Tyler leading 0-6 after four innings. HPU scored a run in the fifth and sixth but their comeback would end there falling 2-11 in the end.
Howard Payne now stands at 1-4 overall and will play at home on Tuesday versus the University of Dallas in a non-conference double header.
