DALLAS, Texas – The Howard Payne University men’s basketball team fell to NCAA Division II Dallas Baptist University 94-56 in non-conference action Saturday evening at the Burg Center.
Cold shooting and turnovers plagued the Yellow Jackets in the first half. Howard Payne found themselves down 41-24 at halftime with just 32% shooting from the floor.
Dallas Baptist shot the ball well with 56% shooting on the night. DBU extended their lead in the second giving HPU the 94-56 loss.
Howard Payne was led by Brandon Irwin with 21 points followed by John Bryant with seven points.
Baxton Adamson led DBU with a game high 22 points. Jordan McGowen added 17 points and eight rebounds.
Howard Payne will play next on Tuesday at Austin College in Sherman, Texas at 7:30 pm.
